We Are Camping in Kindergarten

Bryan says: "We are playing in the tent. We played with the food."

Alex says: "We painted houses, trees, and fruit. Then painted flowers."

Vanessa says: "With Ms. Rodgers we glued to shapes to make a campsite."

Victoria says: "There's bears and baby bears and there's a lot of trees."

Fallons says: "There are a lot of tents at stores you can get to go camping and you can bring a blanket and pillow in your tent.

What We Know About Germs:

Vanessa says: "You have to wash your hands because we don't want to be sick!"

RayAnn says: "You have to wash your hands with soap because the soap takes out the germs."

Victoria says: "Germs makes us sick!"

Shiloh says: "Germs makes us sick because germs are dirty!"

Byran says: "You can clean your hands with a wipie."

Soap Playdough

This week at school we made our own play dough with soap and your child is brining some home. Here's the recipe in case you'd like to make more with your child!

2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
2 tablespoons liquid tempera paint
2 tablespoons liquid soap
1 cup water
Mix dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Mix wet ingredients in a separate bowl. Gradually add the wet to the dry ingredients until the consistency of dough is reached. Knead dough and have fun creating with your child!

2 tazas de harina
1/2 taza de sal
2 cucharadas de pintura li
2 cucharada de jabon
1 taza de agua
En un tazon grande mexcla los ingredientes secos. En diferente tazon mexcla los ingredients mojados. Hecha los dos juntos poco a la ves hasta que se sienta como masa.

Apples, Apples Everywhere!

We have become apple experts in our classroom! We sampled apples (red was our classroom favorite), we sorted apples, we counted apples, we colored apples, we cut apples, and we planted apple seeds! We even read about apples! Our favorite story was Ten Apples on Top, by Dr. Seuss!

We are also working extremely hard to learn our letters and sounds. If you ask us what Allie Alligator says, we can show you! We are learning our letters through a program called Zoophonics! Each letter of the alphabet has an animal to relate the letter sound to!

Also, ask your kindergarten to sing the "Shape Train" song. In math, we sing songs to learn math concepts! So far, "Shape Train" and "Do You Like to Count" are our favorites!

Next week we are learning about germs! Beaware for "Germs" coming home!

We're Figuring It All Out!

Hello! We're half way through our second week! Our kindergartners are quickly learning routines! We have started our "Walk to Read" program. This means, I may not be your kindergartners reading teacher! Ms. Lo, Ms. Bussiere, and myself divided up our students to better meet their individual reading needs! All of us are highly qualified reading teachers, and look forward to seeing our students grow! If you want to know who your student's reading teacher is, let me know!

You can become a follower of this blog and post questions and comments! Please make sure they are kindergarten appropriate! If you have a question about homework, post it on the blog! Myself or other parents who have joined the blog can answer your question! I'm continuing to learn about blogging...so if you're confussed remember, so am I!

Our first week complete!

We survived the first week! I had such a wonderful time with all of my new kindergartners! I have gotten to each and everyone of my students. I look forward to spending more time with them this year! We are currently working on reading groups. We will dividing the students up between three classrooms, in order to meet individual needs better! Please remember to read 20-25 minutes a night with your students! If you need books, please let me know!

Welcome to kindergarten!

I am so excited to begin this school! I look forward to having you all in my room this year! Let me tell you a little bit about myself! This is my 3rd year teaching kindergarten at Rose Hill! I look forward to having you and your student in my classroom.
